Our Art Room
Art Teacher, Marissa Kunz
Because we believe that art is
essential to a good education, the PTA funds a full-time
art teacher, Marissa, who provides each student with one
session every week for the entire school year. Marissa
encourages the students to explore a wide variety of
media in addition to drawing and painting such as
printmaking, weaving, papier machι, wire construction
and clay. The dedicated art room is light, bright and
encourages creativity. Art also takes place in the
classrooms, where teachers and parent volunteers
sometimes lead special art projects, using silkscreen,
collage, oil pastels and mosaic, for example.
Our Green Schoolyard often provides
inspiration for the students in the art they make, and
exemplifies our goal to foster interdisciplinary
learning wherever possible.
