Sherman PTA - Welcome!

Sherman’s PTA is a 100% volunteer based organization run by parents and staff.  The PTA coordinates and sponsors many community and fundraising activities to enhance the experience of our students and their families as they learn and grow through Sherman. 

ALL families are encouraged to join and participate in the PTA.  Membership is $10 per family and meetings are held once a month during the school year.  Through our meetings, parents find out how they can get involved in supporting Sherman through PTA events and activities.  Everyone is encouraged to attend these meetings to learn about and participate in the PTA’s support efforts.  If you can’t attend, meeting minutes are circulated and the PTA officers always welcome your comments and ideas. 

The PTA is organized and led by a group of officers who are elected by the community each year – President, 2 Vice Presidents, Treasurer, Secretary and Historian.  Issues and topics are brought to monthly PTA meetings for discussion and decisions are made via votes by the membership at meetings.  Committees serve to support a focused effort of the PTA. 

Volunteer Opportunities
We have many wonderful activities and events planned for this school year to look forward to.  In order to assure the success and smooth running of Sherman’s activities and events, we need to come together as a community to provide support and volunteer!  The PTA would like to find out more about our community of volunteers.  We understand that people have various schedules, talents, interests, etc.  So to get involved, please click here to complete our Volunteer Form and let us know more about how you'd like to support Sherman.  Return the form in your child's school folder.  Or you can contact the PTA directly from the website - please be sure to include your child's name and classroom.  Thank you!

Library Support - Our librarian, Clare Watsky, needs volunteers to help keep our library beautiful and running smoothly. 

Meetings - PTA Meetings will generally be the second Wednesday of each month with a few exceptions.  No meeting in December.  Be sure to check out the calendar for the exact dates.  Meetings start in the Teachers' Lounge at 6:15pm.

PTA Support - PTA fundraising supports the following: choral music, arts instruction, teacher/classroom supplies, performing arts assemblies, fieldtrips, copy machines, 5th grade and kindergarten graduations, library supplies, outdoor sports supplies, and Green Schoolyard materials.  We present four key fundraising activities each year - the Annual Fund, Rafflemania, Spell-a-thon and our Silent Auction event.
