Information for New Families
Welcome to Sherman Elementary! We’re excited to have you and your child join our community. Sherman is a vibrant school with dedicated teachers and a supportive parent community ready to welcome you. Below, you’ll find helpful information to ensure a smooth transition.
key dates
The first day of the fall semester of the 2025-2026 school year is Monday, August 18th, 2025. A link to the official SFUSD calendar can be found here.
School starts at 7:50 a.m. All students should have a backpack, water bottle, folder, and a snack/lunch bag. TK and Kindergarten students should also bring an extra set of clothing that can stay at school. Please ensure all of your student’s belonging are labeled with their names. There’s nothing else you need to prepare ahead of the first day, your child’s teacher will let you know if anything else is needed after school begins.

SharkNet is Sherman’s internal website (our private intranet).With password-protected access, families, staff, and volunteer coordinators can share updates, events, and important information.
SharkNet is only accessible for current Sherman families, new families will be able to register in August. Please complete the New Family Form in order to get your individualized login.
Be sure to keep your email address current — the site is used to send reminders and “broadcast” urgent messages (in case of school-wide emergencies).

NOTE: SharkNet is only for current Sherman families and staff. Directory information is for school-related purposes only. The site is self-regulated, look for SharkNet trainings offered in the fall.
ON-SITE after school program FOR TK - 5th GRADE
Sharks Until Dark (SUD) is Sherman’s on-site after school program. The program runs from the end of the school day until 6:00 p.m., five days a week, providing a safe and engaging environment for students. SUD offers a wide range of enrichment activities, including: STEM, Arts, Outdoor Education, Cooking, and Social Emotional Learning.
